NDBS World Cultural Kitchen - 4 Months Later

NDBS World Cultural Kitchen - 4 Months Later

I had the opportunity to swing back by UW Farm in late October to see how our World Cultural Kitchen project from spring was faring (and only now had the free time to post about it). Overall, the project is aging gracefully and the summer of use is hardly visible at all. One counter seems to be sagging, perhaps due to someone sitting on it; we had planned for that situation, but maybe not well enough. While four months is a short time in the lifespan of a structure, I am pleased to see no visible signs of weathering, damage, or vandalism thus far.

The client added a few planters to bookend the structure, as well as the wash sink that we had discussed from the beginning. The placement (and aesthetic) of the sink pairs well with our structure and the location fits perfectly. The open structure allows other temporary things to be moved in and out, such as tables, benches, and other equipment.
