tournament chess board

This minimalist board emphasizes the natural grain and figuring in the elm and maple squares by eliminating any details like edge banding, inlays, or stains. The curly figuring in the maple is expressed beautifully when light shines on the board, revealing the stripes that run perpendicular to the grain pattern. This board is finished with gloss rub-on polyurethane. Note that this board has an “a” side and a “b” side — the b side contains minor aesthetic blemishes. Pieces not included.

18″x18″ with 2-1/4″ squares. Conforms to USCF tournament standards.

coasters in salvaged oak and cherry – TOP (4)

Note: This listing is for the top row of coasters in the photograph showing two sets. This set contains 4 coasters made of salvaged oak and cherry. The oak was sourced from an old, weathered wood pile, previous use unknown. The boards had aged for a long time, and salvaging them took a good bit of planing and sanding but it was well worth the effort as it revealed that it was beautiful quarter sawn oak. The cherry is left over cut offs from projects dating back to 2018.
